K-10 students are taught with respect to their culture and mother tongue using their inherent skills, developing new skills that open to them a future of service to others. Students are encouraged and sponsored to finish high school and also college, if they so desire.

The sick are treated with respect to their culture and language; explanations given in their mother tongue and culturally appropriate ways. Preventative health care is taught and encouraged.
Through Education and Healthcare that caters to the whole person, a life in Jesus is modeled; there is no need to fear because the love of Jesus provides a place of acceptance and love and a hope in a future life.

The Palaw’an, also known as the Palawano to visitors, are made up of several indigenous subgroups: the Tagbanwa, the Central Palaw’an, the Tau’t Daram, the Tau't Batu, the South Palaw’an, the Brooke's Point Palaw’an and the Molbog. Though they share many similarities in culture and customs, they each have distinct ethno-linguistic differences and live in various geographical locations.
Step back in time several hundred years and imagine life deep in a remote jungle highland. The Palawano people lived entirely off the land — their food, clothing, shelter, and medicine all came from the surrounding forest. There was no access to modern healthcare, and no literacy apart from ancient hieroglyphic symbols, known only to a few.
Life was also marked by a deep fear of the unseen. Spirits were believed to be everywhere. Skeletons with glowing eyes were said to stalk the jungle, searching for someone to devour. Giant spirit birds could swoop down and carry a person away. Some spirits oppressed and possessed. Others made people sick — or simply killed them.
To survive, the Palawano believed they had to appease these spirits. Chickens, pigs — whatever the demons demanded — were offered in sacrifice. It was a world ruled by fear, spiritual darkness, and the desperate need to keep unseen powers satisfied.
And the list of fears and rituals went on… Malaria was rampant. Typhoid, dysentery, tuberculosis, pneumonia, tooth decay — all common. Child mortality was high. Disease and death touched nearly every family.
Life wasn’t just hard — it was harsh. Unrelenting.
There was no hope, only brokenness. Emptiness… And into this dire reality stepped a young couple. Learn more about this story by clicking here.
